Gus Beyer     Jelinek Well Drilling
is a family business in Rhinelander, WI  run by Dave Jelinek and his wife Robin. Originally started by Robin's father Gus, "Gus Beyer Well Drilling" was based in Hartland, WI for over 30 years. After 3 decades of specializing in government contract work and employing a large crew, Gus eventually longed for a more relaxed atmosphere and slower pace of living. To achieve that Gus relocated his business to the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin and scaled the operation back to a single man crew. Dave joined Gus as a helper in 1975 and, though word-of-mouth was their only advertising, the business flourished.
Current equipment at the time were cable and rotary rigs though rotary drilling rigs with casing hammersGus Beyer & crew member with old drilling rig were just starting to come into use. These new rigs provided a more efficient and faster means of drilling wells. Eventually rotary drilling technology advanced to the point of the casing hammer evolving to allow for a "drill-through" design and this improved efficiency even further as it allowed the crew to visually follow the drills progress based on the discharge out of the casing chute since drilling and driving the casing are done simultaneously. Whereas cable drilling and conventional rotary designs required removal of the drill to chart progress, drill-through designs eliminate the time-consuming task of pulling the drill and welding on additional lengths of casing then re-drilling the casing out. It was now easier to go through more difficult ground to reach water.
Gus Beyer & crew member     Dave recognized the additional benefits to customers and invested in the new technology. This represented a commitment to customer service that originally started with Gus' business and continues to this day with Jelinek Well Drilling. In 1986, Dave and Robin took the business over full-time and they have enjoyed steady growth and increased volume with each passing year. What started as a business that drilled, on average, 50 wells per year, has grown into one of the most sought-after well drilling firms in Northern Wisconsin with thousands of satisfied customers.
